Beauty Bar {Allure Sample Society} - March 2015

It's time for another monthly subscription box reveal! This time around, we're taking the lid off of my March 2015 Beauty Bar box by Allure Sample Society and its a good one!

I know I've mentioned before that getting these monthly boxes is like Christmas morning every month and I'm not kidding.  It's so much fun to open these up and see what goodies are waiting inside!

Then, the real fun is giving everything a try over the following days to see what works and what doesn't.  Usually, there are one or two products that are a miss and that's okay.

But, what I love is when I find a product that becomes a staple and a favorite!  I think I may have found one of those this month!

Ready to dive in and take a peek?  Let's see what we have, shall we?

#1 | Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray

This stuff is pure gold!!  I've used Oscar Blandi products in the past and liked them, but can't say I fell in love with any of them.  I'm not entirely sure what this stuff is, but it's AWESOME!!

It says it's a 'dry texturizing spray'.  It's not a hairspray, it's not a dry shampoo, but it's so much more than just a texturizer!

I tried this on both clean, freshly blow dried hair and on second day, slightly limp hair.  On my clean, freshly dried hair,  I lightly sprayed it from tips to roots (so backwards from what you would normally think, but that's what it said to do).  Then, just tousled it slightly with my fingers...I don't know how to describe it.  It was a little subtle, but my hair just looked really good.  It looked like I had just stepped out of a salon!

For my second day hair, I used some dry shampoo on my roots, then spritzed some of this on, again, from ends to roots, mussed it up a bit and had crazy volume!  I pulled it back into a ponytail and my normal second day, limp ponytail was nice and full and again, looked awesome!

I will DEFINITELY be buying some of this stuff!

Oh...and it smells pretty good too! :)

#2 | Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

This mascara promises to lengthen, curl, and volumize.  I'm generally pretty picky on mascaras, so I'm usually a bit skeptical when I try a new one (although, I LOVE trying new mascaras!).

I was impressed by this mascara!  The wand does not have a bushy, full brush.  It's plastic and has very short bristles, which I normally don't like, but the beauty of this wand is that you can really wiggle this into the roots to add fullness to your lashes.

Despite how well it worked, I'm not sure that I'm going to buy it right now.  I have some other mascara that I'm liking these days, but it will stay on my list for potentially buying at some point down the road!

#3 | Cargo Essential Lip Gloss

This lip gloss is very creamy.  I LOVE lip gloss and have a bit of an obsession with them (seriously...you should check out my makeup counter...there are more lip glosses than anything else!).

So, I was very excited to see a full size tube of this when I opened my box!

While I love a light lip, the particular shade they sent me is a touch too light and since it's very creamy and not overly sheer, it doesn't really work too well on me.

But, I hate to waste this, so I'm going to try using this with another lipstick or gloss that's a bit on the darker side to see if I can make it work.

#4 | Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm

Along with the lip gloss obsession, I also love me a good lip balm and this one is a fantastic one!  This clear gel does wonders for dry lips.

It's very hydrating and a nice thick gel, but not so thick that it's goopy and sticky. It also has lasting power!  After I put this on, my lips feel soft and hydrated for a nice long time!

Fortunately, this is also a full size tube, so I will be set for awhile, but I would definitely order another one of these once it runs out.

#5 | Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer

This anti-aging moisturizer promises to brighten and smooth the skin. It contains all kinds of organic ingredients that are great for the skin!

Like I mentioned when I reviewed a few skin care products with my latest Birchbox, I'm currently using a product line that I love and that does wonders for my skin.  So, I tried this (reluctantly) to see how it works.

It's not bad, but it doesn't rival my favorite product line.  The moisturizer has a bit of a yellow tint and sadly, it smells a bit plastic-y.  It seemed to take a minute or so for it to really absorb into my skin and that annoyed me.  That combined with the plastic scent made me feel like I was putting plastic on my face.

So...this one wasn't a win for me, but I do love that this brand uses organic products instead of a bunch of chemicals, so that was a nice find!

So, what's the score?  Out of the five products, there's only one that I really didn't like (the moisturizer).  While I didn't love the lip gloss as is, I think I can make that work, so I'm happy with four out of the five products!

I'd say that's a winning month!
