Beauty Bar {Allure Sample Society} – May 2015

It’s time for another monthly subscription box reveal! Today, we’re taking the lid off of my May 2015 Beauty Bar box by Allure Sample Society and as always, its a good one!

Allure has been doing a great job the past few months of really mixing it up, which I'm loving! We've got hair products, skin care, makeup and perfume this month.

While a few of these brands are not new to me, each of these products are, so I couldn't wait to dive in and start playing around.

Ready to join me and take a peek?  Here we go...

#1 | Water Sleeping Mask by Laneige

This overnight hydrating mask promises to provide tons of moisture while you sleep.  Since I have drier skin, I love to try moisturizers so this instantly intrigued me.  I’m not sure why they call it a ‘mask’ though…it’s just a moisturizer, but it is a thicker gel type of product (which I love!).

I LOVED this product!  It smells lovely, absorbed instantly into my skin and made my skin feel like I’d just had a facial.  The following morning…my skin was soft and felt amazing.

I’m thrilled to find this particular product.  My current moisturizer is amazing, but very pricey.  So, I can cut that to just morning use and start using this in the evenings and with it ringing in at only $23, it’s a small fraction of the cost of my other moisturizer, so woohoo!  And you know what's even's available exclusively through Target! So, I don't even have to order it online, which is so convenient!

#2 | Eros Pour Femme Perfume by Versace

First off, I love this little bottle...I mean, how cute is this mini bottle of perfume!  With summer on the horizon, I was hoping for a bit of a lighter scent.  Not to imply this was 'heavy', but it was a little more than I like for warmer weather.

The scent is composed of lemons, bergamot, pomegranate, jasmine, peony, sandalwood, musk, and some woodsy notes.  I wasn't overly fond of it, so it's not one I'd buy, but with that said, I didn't hate it.  It just didn't grab me and make me want to take a bath in it!

#3 | Lip Gloss by Julep (color: Graceful)

I have a pretty healthy addiction to lip glosses, so I’m always thrilled to get a new one in one of my boxes (especially if it’s a color that works with my skin tone!).

This lip gloss is PERFECT for spring & summer.  It’s very sheer and it almost looks like you’re not wearing any gloss at all, yet your lips just look pretty.  It’s a lovely pink shade that isn’t too light or dark, it isn’t too rosy or blah, it’s just right.

I think it would also be a perfect candidate for layering with lipsticks as well.  I highly suspect this is going to become a fave in my purse and I can definitely see myself ordering a full tube of this once the sample is gone.

#4 | Luxurious Volume 7 Day In-Shower Treatment by John Frieda

I got excited when I read about this hair treatment…it promises to provide extra fullness that lasts between 3-5 shampoos!

After washing and conditioning your hair, just apply this, then rinse out.  It’s supposed to give extra oomph through the next several shampoos (i.e. you don’t have to apply it every single time you wash your hair).  Well..I couldn’t WAIT to give this a try!

While I didn't have results that lasted 3-5 shampoos, I did see a boost in my volume on the day that I applied it!  My hair was fuller and prettier.  It did, however, make my hair feel like it had a bit of a film on it, so it wasn't quite as silky smooth as it normally is, but that might be the 'grit' that gave it the extra oomph.

I'm on the fence on this one, so I think I need to use it a few more times to see if it's a must have product!

#5 | Thermal Spring Water by Eau Thermale Avene

This “skin-quenching water spray” promises to calm and soften sensitive dry skin. I’ve seen the little cans of Evian spray and always wondered about these types of products.  I mean…it’s water…in a can.  What’s so special about it?

Well…since I received this in my box, I was excited to give it a try, but honestly didn’t expect much (again…it’s water…in a can).  But, I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised!

My face instantly felt refreshed and hydrated!  According to the card that came with the box, it actually is a bit more than just water in a can.  Since it’s thermal, it (supposedly) contains minerals, silicates (what the heck is that??), and other “trace elements” to soothe the skin.

Whatever is in it, I liked it, although I doubt I’ll pay $12.50 for a can of it, but I will definitely make use of this little guy this summer when it’s hot out!

#6 | Cavier Repair Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray by Alterna

This hair product is a heat protecting spray that is infused with multi-vitamins. It's supposed to protect the hair from your heated styling products while injecting it with much needed "good stuff" to improve the texture and manageability of damaged hair.  That definitely intrigued me, so I couldn't wait to give it a try!

While my hair looked good after I blew it dry, I can't say it looked any better than it does with my normal products, which was a tad disappointing.  I feel like I'm missing something! I'm going to try it again though...maybe I just didn't use enough of it!  Sometimes it's hard to find the sweet spot with products, you know?

I love the idea of this spray, so I'm hoping I'll see better results the next time around!

So, what’s the score? ended up being a pretty good box!  I really like 4 out of the 6 products and depending on how the heat protecting spray works the second time around, it might be 5 out of 6!
