November Faves & December Plans

It’s that time again, folks!  The first part of the month around here that means checking in on how we’re doing on our monthly goals and setting some new ones for the month ahead.

You might be asking why I share these every month for all the world to see?  For starters it helps to keep me accountable!  But, for some reason, you guys seem to like taking a peek at what’s going on in my world, so I’m happy to oblige :).

Ah…November.  Even though I love to start seeing signs of the holidays, I have to admit, you’re not my favorite month.  Around here, the temperatures start to dip in November and that means it starts feeling like winter.  But!  This year, that hasn’t been the case!  Yes, it’s gotten chillier, but I haven’t whipped out my winter coat yet and only started wearing gloves the other day, so this November has been quite nice!

I think I mentioned this last month, but in case you missed it, I’ve enrolled in coaching school to become a certified life coach.  That kicked off this month with three days of training in Boston (the first of three training weekends throughout the process).  It was intense, but fun and it solidified the feeling that this is the right step for me!  This will really start kicking in during December as tele-classes, peer coaching, and peer groups get underway.  But, despite the hectic schedule, I’m excited!

But, before I go too far ahead, let’s start with a peek back at November before we dive into what’s ahead for December!

Here’s what you were loving

This month was pretty busy, but overall it was a great month!  Like I mentioned, I started coaching school and with the other items on my list, my blog took a little bit of a back seat as the month wore on.  But, everything that I am working on getting done now, will free up more of my time come January when I can regroup and refocus to get back on a consistent track.

Around here on Heart & Moxie, I shared a variety of topics, but from the various posts I shared, these were the top 4 posts you guys loved best:

How'd I Do on my November Goals?

November was a very productive month!  I accomplished most of what I set out to do, so I’m feeling very satisfied!  My big goal of decluttering my home took up the bulk of my time.  I haven’t finished, but I didn’t plan to…my goal is to wrap up my entire home by the end of December and I am well on my way there (and it feels so good!)

For the one thing I didn’t quite complete, I’m okay with that.  I knew it’d be a stretch to get all of this done while traveling one of the weekends this month, so I’m happy with that task remaining on the agenda for December.

Holiday Goals | Decorate for Christmas {success}
I spent this past weekend getting my home festive and in the Christmas spirit!  Now that my tree is up, I look forward to enjoying some hot chocolate in front of the twinkle lights when I get home from work in the evenings.

Holiday Goals | Finish the Majority of my Christmas Shopping {success}
I have finished the bulk of my shopping and the only things that remain are the items that I can’t buy until I go home (Atlanta) for Christmas.  Usually those items are the bulkier things that cost too much to ship, so I just wait until I get there and do a quick shopping spree to knock it out!

Fun & Leisure Goals | Plan a trip to Southern California for January {success}
Next month, I head out to Southern California for a week for a 3 day retreat.  Since I've never been to Southern California and given the option of being there versus cold, probably snowy Connecticut, I'm heading out a few days early to enjoy some time on my own!  It was hard to decide exactly where I wanted to go since I don't have that much extra time, but I narrowed it down to two days in Santa Monica and one day in Ojai (which is where the retreat is located).  Hotels, rental car, and flights are booked!

House & Home | Continue Decluttering & Simplifying {success}
Last month, I mentioned that for this goal I wanted to declutter every room in my house by the end of this year with the goal of dropping off donations at Goodwill every weekend until the end of the year.

I’m happy to report that I have stayed the course with this objective and I have finished going through every closet, every drawer, every nook & cranny of my upstairs (that’s 3 rooms and a bathroom)!  I have not only donated a TON of stuff, but I have thrown out a lot of junk that was just taking up space.  It feels SO good!  I also have a lot of ideas of improving the organization in these rooms, but for now, my mission is just to declutter.  Once January rolls around and I’ve finished the decluttering, I’ll turn my attention to the organization side of things.

Heart & Moxie Goals |  Create a few Printable Workbooks for Goal Setting {fail}
This one didn't happen...I wanted to create a printable workbook for goal setting as we head into 2016 to share with everyone.  But I didn't end up having enough time to work on this one.  But, it's on my list for December because I'd really like to share something with you to help you start 2016 on the right foot!

Heart & Moxie Goals |  Set up a Printables Library for the Moxie Girls tribe {success}
I finally figured out an easy way to set this up and I finally have my Printables library set up for my Moxie Girl tribe members!  Right now, it’s mostly the printables I’ve offered through various posts on the blog, but as we move forward, I intend to add in new printables that will be exclusive for the library and my tribe.  If you want to get in on that action, join my tribe (you’ll also get to participate in our awesome Facebook group!)!

My Plans for December

As is the case for most people, December is going to be busy! My requirements for coaching school will start to kick into gear and will need about 5 hours of my time per week.  I’m also participating in Stratejoy’s Holiday Council to plan out my 2016 and that will involve 3 weekly group calls, plus time working in the workbook (but I'm SOOOO excited about Holiday Council!).

I will be traveling home to Atlanta for the holidays, which I’m looking forward to…it'll be great to be home and to spend time with friends and family!

With all of that in mind, I want to keep my goals realistic for this month and not pack too much on my plate.  My ‘down time’ will be limited!

House & Home | Finish Decluttering & Simplifying
Now that my upstairs rooms are finished, I can turn my attention to my downstair rooms.  Fortunately, I have much less clutter here than upstairs, so I feel good about getting this done.

Heart & Moxie Goals |  Work on goals for 2016
I have a lot of ideas for what I want to do around here in 2016 and I’m hoping to spend a nice chunk of time (while I’m flying to/from Atlanta) brainstorming and working on these ideas.  It’s better to start the year out prepared than scrambling for ideas along the way!

Heart & Moxie Goals |  Create a Printable Workbook for 2016 Goal Setting
This one is carrying over from November and basically, as I mentioned above, I want to create something to not only help myself, but to help you to get your goals for the New Year down on paper!

Life |  Work on goals for 2016
With Holiday Council, I will get the bulk of my goal setting done.  But, if there are any areas that are left out, I plan to take some out to look ahead to next year.  I want to have objectives for all facets of my life - blog, career (coaching), financial, spiritual, personal/relationships, home, etc.

Fun & Leisure Goals | Get into NYC to enjoy the Holiday festivities
I LOVE New York City in December!  The city seems to come alive.  I’m not sure when my schedule is going to allow it, but I’m really hoping to carve out some time to hop on the train and head into the city for an afternoon of holiday fun.

On the agenda will be a stroll through the Christmas markets in Grand Central, in Bryant Park, and whatever other ones I happen to stumble upon!  I also love to check out the store windows at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, etc.  And a visit to the City in December wouldn’t be complete without a visit to see the Rockefeller tree!

Your turn, friends! What are YOUR goals for December? I’d love to hear all about them, so leave me some comments below and let me know!
