October Faves & November Plans

It’s that time again, folks!  The first part of the month around here means checking in on how we’re doing on our monthly goals and setting some new ones for the month ahead.

You might be asking why I share these every month for all the world to see?  For starters it helps to keep me accountable!  But, for some reason, you guys seem to like taking a peek at what’s going on in my world, so I’m happy to oblige :).

October….wait….where did you go?  My favorite month of the year ALWAYS flies by right before my eyes.  I can’t believe we are now in November and, at least for me, the holiday season has arrived!!  But, before I go too far ahead, let’s take a quick peek back at October!

Here’s what you were loving

October was AWESOME!  Historically, October has always been a good month for me…maybe because it’s my favorite month, I’m in a great mood and it just attracts amazing things, who knows?!

This month, I got a much needed home project done, I applied and was accepted to a year long mastermind program (for life, not business) for next year that I’m really excited about, I enjoyed several fall activities to embrace the season (which I've shared some photos of below), and I went home to Atlanta for a long weekend, where my beloved Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pulled one of the biggest upsets this season against FSU and I was there to witness in person!

Around here on Heart & Moxie, I shared a variety of topics, but from the various posts I shared, these were the top 4 posts you guys loved best:

How’d I do on my October Goals?

October was my best month of the year!  For the first time this year, I actually completed every single goal I set out to do!  I’ve mentioned it before, but I generally put too much on my to-do list and plan more goals that I know I’ll be able to finish.  It keeps me motivated and if I have down time after finishing something, I have a ready list of what to do next.

But….I have to say, it feels pretty freakin’ good to have finished everything on my list!!  I may have to re-evaluate my strategy for setting my monthly goals and keep it more realistic because right now, I’m fired up to get started on November goals!

House & Home Goals | Finish Organizing the Closet in my Spare Bedroom {SUCCESS}
I mentioned last month that this particularly closet suffered from a leak above the closet back in August.  That meant I had to take everything out of the closet in order to have it repaired, repainted, etc.

Instead of just shoving everything back in after the work was finished, I finally bit the bullet and invested in the Elfa Shelving from the Container Store.  I’ve been wanting that forever, but it’s SO expensive!  Since they were having a 25% off sale and my closet was bare, I took that as a sign.

I installed that earlier this month and sorted through everything I had pulled out of the closet.  I boxed up quite a bit to donate, tossed a lot of junk, and reorganized everything else.  I have so much extra space in there now that it’ll come in handy as I declutter and reorganize other areas of my house!

House & Home Goals | Swap out Summer clothes for Fall/Winter clothes {SUCCESS}
I barely achieved this goal!  I finally took on this task Saturday…i.e. the last day of October.  But, it’s done!!  In the interest of decluttering things, I was pretty ruthless with clothes I either no longer wear or don’t fit and have a nice pile of clothes that will be going to Goodwill later this week.

Fall Goals | Decorate for Fall {SUCCESS}
I knocked this out the first weekend of the month.  All of my holiday decorations, for both fall and Christmas, are stored in the closet I reorganized, so while sorting through this for the closet reorg, I was also able to get my home decorated!

Fall Goals | Make Cranberry-Chocolate Chip - Walnut Bread {SUCCESS}
Much like the goal of swapping out my clothes, I finished this in October by the skin of my teeth!  My neighborhood doesn't really get any trick-or-treaters, so baking this amazing bread was my Halloween night activity!  I LOVE this stuff and honestly, I'll probably bake another one around Thanksgiving!

Blogging Goals |  Set up my Editorial Calendar for the rest of this Year {SUCCESS}
While flying back from my weekend in Atlanta, I whipped out my notebook, opened up Evernote (where I store my blog post ideas) and got to work.  In no time flat, I had my editorial calendar for both November AND December done!  Now…I just need to start working on drafts so I’m actually ahead of the game!

My Plans for November

This month, my life will start to get pretty hectic, so setting realistic goals and prioritizing my time better is going to be really key.

Later this month, I will begin Coaching school to get certified as a life coach.  It’s about a 7-month process and it kicks off with a 3 day training weekend later this month which I am really excited about, but also a tad nervous.  There are a couple more of these weekends throughout the training, but in between, my weeks will get busy with weekly online classes, weekly coaching of a fellow classmate, being coached each week by a different fellow classmate, and a weekly peer group session.  All of this while still working full time and keeping my blog afloat!  But, I WILL get it done (or so I’m telling myself :))!!!

Holiday Goals | Decorate for Christmas
The holidays are upon us!  Since I generally spend about a week at home (Atlanta) for Christmas, I don’t like to wait until December to decorate for the holidays.  It’s a lot of work to get the tree up and pull out all the decorations!  Fun, but still a lot of work, so I like to put everything up Thanksgiving weekend so I have plenty of time to enjoy it.

Holiday Goals | Finish the Majority of my Christmas Shopping
Since life will start getting crazy busy this month with Coaching school, I need to get a jump on my holiday shopping.  I’ve already picked up a few gifts here and there, but I want to get the bulk of it done in the first half of November.  I always end up getting some gifts once I get to Atlanta so I’ll still plan for that, but I don’t want to be in a position where December rolls around and I have to start scrambling to get everything bought, wrapped, and shipped!!

Fun & Leisure Goals | Plan a trip to Southern California for January
The year long Mastermind program that I was accepted into for 2016 kicks off with a 3 day retreat in Ojai, California (which is about 85 miles north of Los Angeles).  It’s a mandatory retreat, not that you’d have to pull my arm…Connecticut vs. Southern California…in January…no contest.

Since I’ve never been to Southern California before and I don’t want to risk missing the weekend because of a stupid snowstorm rolling in on the day I fly out, I’m going to fly out several days ahead of time and enjoy a few days of exploring on my own.  I’ve already booked my flight…now I just need to figure out where and what I’m going to do (if you have suggestions, PLEASE let me know!!!).

House & Home | Continue Decluttering & Simplifying
Now that I’ve gotten that closet cleared out, I’m on a mission to do some serious decluttering by the end of the year.  I’ll leave the re-organization of everything until next year but my goal is to drop off a big pile of donations at Goodwill every single weekend between now and the end of 2015!

By the time the ball drops on New Years Eve, that should take care of getting rid of all the crap I have lying around that needs a new home!  Then, I can start the 2016 on a much lighter note!

Heart & Moxie Goals |  Create a few Printable Workbooks for Goal Setting
Part of this objective is because I want to create some workbooks for my own use to set my holiday goals and my 2016 goals.  But, I think they’ll be useful for others, so I’m considering offering them for purchase once they’re ready.  I haven’t made up my mind on that just yet…but at the very least, I will share at least a one-pager for each as freebies on the blog at some point in November and December!

Heart & Moxie Goals |  Set up a Printables Library for the Moxie Girls tribe
This has been one of my plans for my Moxie Girls tribe for awhile, but I just haven’t been able to figure out a good way to set that up so it’s only available for my Tribe.  I need to research this some more, but I’m really itching to get this out the door for my girls!

Your turn, friends! What are YOUR goals for November? I’d love to hear all about them, so leave me some comments below and let me know!
