September Faves & October Plans

It’s that time again, folks!  The first part of the month around here means checking in on how we’re doing on our monthly goals and setting some new ones for the month ahead.

You might be asking why I share these every month for all the world to see?  For starters it helps to keep me accountable!  But, for some reason, you guys seem to like taking a peek at what’s going on in my world, so I’m happy to oblige :).

October....ahhh....my favorite month of the year has arrived!  I always enter this month with so many plans and expectations for the fall season.  Sometimes I get busy with life and don't get to do as much as I'd like (you know what I'm talking about!) and other times, the weather just doesn't cooperate (rainy weekends do not make for good opportunities for taking a hike amongst the falling leaves!).  So, we'll see how this month plays out, but I'm ready to make the official transition to sweaters, boots, and all things homey and comforting.

But, enough about that, let’s get down to business, shall we?

Let’s start with a peek back at September before we dive into what’s ahead for October!

Here’s what you were loving

September was a fantastic month!  I spent most of the first half across the pond in Europe and it was an amazing trip (I shared a little about the trip already and plan to share more this month!).

After returning, I settled back into the daily grind, made some decisions to pursue a new path in life (more on that in the coming months!), and wrapped up the month at The Big E, which is a HUGE annual fall fair in New England.  With all of that, I got a little behind with a few things (like my blog posts...oops!), but from the various posts I shared, these were the top 4 posts that you were loving:

How’d I do on my September Goals?

This month was a good one!  Despite being on vacation and on the go, I still managed to get a lot done.  Thankfully, I planned accordingly last month and didn't set the bar too high for myself knowing I wouldn't have as much time to dedicate to projects as normal.

Blogging Goals | Knock out more of the Cleanup of Older Content {SUCCESS}
This is an ongoing goal and will take awhile to finish, but after transitioning my old site to this one a couple of months ago, I still have some old content that is hidden because it needs to be cleaned up with my new brand.  I'm slowly working on this and got a few more posts done in September which keeps me on track.  So, I consider that a success!

Blogging Goals | Launch "Define Your Mission" e-Course {FAIL}
This one has been on my list since August and it's frustrating me to no end that it's still on my list!  I have notes, outlines, and lots of pieces done, it's just finding that time to get it over the finish line.  With traveling, work issues and such in September, it just didn't happen. :(

House & Home Goals | Organize the Closet in my Spare Bedroom {IN PROGRESS}
Last month I mentioned that I had a major leak in the closet in my spare bedroom which required me to empty it out for repairs.  I thought that would be a great time to go through everything before putting it back in so it'll be nice and organized.  Part of this process is finally biting the bullet and getting some good shelving installed to make the organization process more successful.

I bought the shelving system from the Container Store and installed part of it, but I didn't measure high enough on one of my walls so one of the custom cut pieces is too big to fit in the space.  I will be swinging by there this week to get that trimmed down a bit more, so I have made progress, but it's slightly on hold due to my mistake (note to self:  measure twice, cut once!).

One other win for the month...
I launched my Facebook group for my Moxie Girl tribe!!  These girls are jumping in and we're chatting away, so if you want to get in on the fun, be sure to join my tribe

My Plans for October

This month, I want to get a lot of random things done in preparation for a very busy November and December.  I also want to get out and enjoy the changing season, plus I have a trip booked to go home to Atlanta at the end of the month.  So...lots to do, but lots of good stuff on the horizon!

House & Home Goals | Finish Organizing the Closet in my Spare Bedroom
Once I get the correct pieces for my shelving system I'll be getting this done.  Part of what I need to organize from this closet is my holiday decorations.  Since I'll be pulling out my fall ones for another goal on this list it'll be attacking two goals in one shot!

House & Home Goals | Swap out Summer clothes for Fall/Winter clothes
This is a twice a year project that I dread and detest, but it's a necessity, right?  With temperatures dropping and the calendar changing, it's time to put away the warm weather clothes and pull out the winter clothes.  I actually prefer winter clothes to summer clothes, so I'm okay with that, but man, do I hate the process!!!

Fall Goals | Decorate for Fall
I don't go crazy for Fall decorations like I do for Christmas, so this won't take too long, but I am ready for my home to have that warm, cozy fall feel to it.

Fall Goals | Make Cranberry-Chocolate Chip - Walnut Bread
This is my annual tradition because I LOVE this bread!  As soon as I spot cranberries in the produce section of my grocery store, this bread happens and I can't WAIT!  Baking this up on a Saturday afternoon is my official start to fall!

Blogging Goals |  Set up my Editorial Calendar for the rest of this Year
I like to plan ahead and I have a lot of blog post ideas jotted down in my notes.  I want to get this all in my calendar so I can actively work ahead on my posts to be better organized.

I'm going to hold off on adding my Define your Mission eCourse to my 'official' to do list to take a bit of pressure off of myself.  Sometimes that's the trick I need to get me refocused and getting things across the finish line!

Your turn, friends! What are YOUR goals for October? I’d love to hear all about them, so leave me some comments below and let me know!
