December 2015 Faves & January 2016 Plans

It’s that time again, folks!  The first part of the month around here that means checking in on how we’re doing on our monthly goals and setting some new ones for the month ahead.

You might be asking why I share these every month for all the world to see?  For starters it helps to keep me accountable!  But, for some reason, you guys seem to like taking a peek at what’s going on in my world, so I’m happy to oblige :).

December was a bit of a crazy month.  With the holidays, traveling for the holidays, some vacation time, and a few other unexpected things thrown in the mix, it was not what I expected it to be going into the month!  That’s not to say it was a bad month, in fact it was the opposite! It was a fantastic month!

December was when all of my coaching requirements started kicking in as part of coaching school.  I started having weekly peer group calls, a weekly session with my peer coach, and I started coaching my peer client on a weekly basis.  It was a LOT to dive into and for the first couple of weeks, I was definitely a fish out of water.  But, as the month came to a close, its starting to feel a lot more natural and while I still have a TON to learn, it is so much FUN.  

All of that was big part of why I took an unexpected break from blogging.  There was just too much coming at me along with the holidays and with the coaching, a lot of stuff was coming up for me that I realized I needed to start working on.  

But, with the new year, it’s time to get a handle on my schedule and get back into things since I’ve missed writing and sharing here.  

With all of that out in the open, let’s turn to last month and see how I did...

Here’s what you were loving

As I mentioned, December was a bit of a crazy month - the coaching stuff, prepping for the holidays, traveling home for the holidays, and spending LOTS of time working on my goals for 2016.  It was definitely a productive month!  But, my blog took a bit of a hit as I had to put it on the back burner to balance everything.  

In December, I {sadly} only posted five posts, so instead of linking in your four favorites, here are links to four of those five in case you missed one!

How’d I do on my December Goals?

Given everything on my plate last month (that I wasn't expecting) I did fairly well on my goals.  I finished half of them, lol.  But, I'm okay with that!!  Honestly, looking back, I'm surprised I finished that much, so I consider it a success.

House & Home | Finish Decluttering & Simplifying {success}
This is going to be an ongoing project for me in 2016, but I succeeded what I set out to do for December.  I finished going through all the major rooms in my home and decluttered and got rid of things I no longer need!  I still have a few closets left, but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made up to this point.

I’ve started thinking about this, but I spent the bulk of December really digging in and getting my overall life goals for 2016 set, so I didn’t get the time I needed to turn my full attention to my website and future business goals.  That’s going to happen this month, though!

I spent a LOT of time on this in December and got all my goals for 2016 set and ready.  A few will be for later in 2016, but there are things I can start doing now to make sure those happen.  A few are things I can get to work on immediately in January.  And, a few are maintenance goals that will be ongoing, daily objectives that don’t necessarily have a finite end.  But, I’m armed and ready to go, so 2016…look out!

Fun & Leisure Goals | Get into NYC to enjoy the Holiday festivities {fail}
I knew when I made this goal last month that this one was a long shot and not likely to happen.  I didn’t really have the time to make it into the city to see it decked out for the holidays.  I really wish I could’ve made it happen, but I there just wasn’t enough spare time in my schedule.  I will definitely need to make this a priority next Christmas though!


My Plans for January

I love the beginning of a new year.  It’s full of promise and as January unfolds, I can start putting the wheels into motion to get the year and life that I want.  Never have I felt more motivated to make this happen than this year, so I’m really excited about January!

In addition to getting started on my 2016 goals, I am also heading out for a week of fun in southern California later this month.  I can’t WAIT to get there!  Part of the trip will be some solo time for me to explore on my own for a few days and for the other half, I’ll be attending a retreat with 13 other women to kick off our year in Elevate - a year long life mastermind group led by Molly Mahar of Stratejoy.  

So, with all of that in mind, here are the main goals I have on my plate to accomplish this month...

Health & Wellness |  Complete a 30 Day Yoga Challenge
I used to do yoga a lot and have always loved it.  But, two years ago, my wrist started bothering me because I was doing yoga {probably} a little too much.  I had to take a break and that break ended up lasting until now (which was not the plan!).  I’ve missed it (both the mental zen and my yoga arms!) and I want to get back into it.  

The other day, someone on Facebook shared this 30 day challenge and I signed up immediately.  My goal is to complete it…all of it.  The only days I know I won’t be able to do it is when I’m at my retreat, but that’s just 3 days and I’ll pick up where I left off when I return home.  For the days I’m in Cali on my own, I'm committed to still doing the challenge!

My objective by the end of the 30 days is to be back into my yoga routine and actively making it part of my daily life.

House & Home | Declutter Phase 2
Now that I’m on my mission to simplify and get rid of crap I don’t need, I want to go back through my recently decluttered house and do it again.  With one more pass, I think I will finally get myself down to where I want to be and I will feel ready to start putting some organization systems into place (that will start happening in February).  Given that I’ve already gone through everything, I don’t think this will take nearly as long, so I’m feeling good about this goal!

My objective by the end of January is to be ready to start getting what’s left organized and in a good system.

Heart & Moxie | Make Goals for 2016
Since I didn’t get this done last month, I need to sit down and brainstorm on what I want to do with my website this year.  I have a lot of ideas floating around, I just need to corral them and plan them out.

My objective by the end of January is to have a game plan mapped out and tangible goals for growth for 2016.

Since I’ll be traveling for a week this month, I want to try to keep it real, so I’m going to stop myself here.  I could easily add more to the list, but I’m trying to be better at not overloading myself.  

I need to remember to also take some down time to just relax and with this list of goals, I should be able to be productive, but also relax a bit.  All of my coaching requirements are still in play this month, but we now add in a 90 minute class every week as well, so it’ll be busy, but busy is good!
