March 2016 Faves & April 2016 Plans

It’s that time again, folks!  The first part of the month around here that means checking in on how we’re doing on our monthly goals and setting some new ones for the month ahead.

You might be asking why I share these every month for all the world to see?  For starters it helps to keep me accountable!  But, for some reason, you guys seem to like taking a peek at what’s going on in my world, so I’m happy to oblige :).

I don't know about you, but I feel like March flew by!  Here in Connecticut, March is typically cold, gray, and sometimes snowy.  This year, however, it was the exact opposite for most of the month!  So, spring arrived a little early for us (well, until this past weekend when winter decided to make an unwelcome reappearance).

Balance was big thing for me this month...or the lack of it, I should say.  But, I started digging into that idea and feel like I may be turning over a new leaf and finding more balance in my life in the coming months, so that has me quite excited!

Despite feeling behind most of the month, I still managed to get quite a bit done and for that, I'm very grateful.  Life never stops moving, right?!

So, with that in mind, let's dive into what happened last month and what's to come for this month!

Here’s what you were loving

Yep...March was a busy one, so I skipped a few posts in the name of staying on top of life.  I try not to sacrifice blog time for things like that, but sometimes, it all piles on a bit too high and something has to go on pause for just a bit.

But, now, I'm back on track and even though I didn't publish 12 posts last month, it wasn't exactly crickets around here.

With that in mind, here are the 4 reader favorites from the month, in case you missed it!

House & Home | More Organizing/Decluttering {SUCCESS}
This month I kept the momentum moving on my plan to completely declutter and simplify my home this year. I took a little bit of a break and didn’t spend as much time on this project as I did in January & February, but I did finish cleaning out my final closet in my home!

The pantry area was my focus this month and with that finished, every single closet in my home is organized and totally photo ready! Even though I can’t see those areas as I walk around my house, every time I have to get something from a closet (which, let’s face it, is every single day!) it gives me a little thrill to see it so organized!

I had a goal of finishing my entire downstairs in Q1 and I’m happy to see I’m on track! Every closet, drawer, bookshelf, etc. on my first floor is decluttered and organized!
Finacial | Finish & File my Taxes {PARTIAL FAIL}
The taxes are done, so that’s a SUCCESS! I never get my taxes done this early. Usually, I’m scrambling on April 10 to get started, so this is big for me. But…I haven’t filed them yet. I meant to get that done by March 31, but I like to review them one last time before hitting that submit button and I just didn’t get the chance to do that yet, hence the ‘partial fail’ status. Obviously, with April 15 looming, this will get done in short order.
Heart & Moxie | Launch the DreamChaser of the Month Program {FAIL}
One of my ideas for my Moxie Girls tribe is to feature a lovely lady from my tribe each month that is going out and making her dreams happen. I need to finish working out the details on this one, and my goal was to at a minimum, have a lot of the details worked out by the end of March, if not ready for launch. But…time got away from me and it just didn’t happen.
Heart & Moxie | Launch the eCourse {SUCCESS}
This is one that has been on my list for months, so it feels so good to slap that “SUCCESS” status on it!!

In case you missed it, my first eCourse is now open for business (and…it’s FREE!). If you're wondering what I’m talking about, then be sure to check it out…it’s all about creating your own personal mission statement for your life!
Health & Fitness | Get Back into my Yoga Routine {FAIL}
I did do a few yoga sessions, but I wouldn’t exactly say I ‘got back’ into it…at least not what I envisioned. Time is an ongoing struggle! But, in addition to a few yoga sessions, I did get myself out of bed early to hop on my spin bike and get in some morning movement. That is a goal of mine as I expand my morning ritual, so I’ve started on that path and so far, so good!

My Plans for April

I love April!  The world starts to come alive this bloom, leaves magically appear on the trees overnight, birds start chattering, and the days keep getting longer.

April is also my birthday month (actually, the big day is today!).  So, this month is about some self-reflection, goal setting (I like to set goals on my birthday every year), and setting myself up for some big things in May and June!

This month will be a lot of prep work for launching my coaching business soon, while also trying to finish up requirements for coaching school which wraps next month!'ll be a little busy, lol.  But, I plan to approach this month MINDFULLY!  No matter what I end up doing, it'll be an intentional choice, which means I won't necessarily get as much done as I normally do, but I will have a bit more down time to balance myself out.  At least...that's the plan while sitting here at the starting gate!

So…what are my goals for April?

House & Home | More Decluttering
It’s a new quarter, which means I have a new area of my house to turn my attention!  In Q2, I want to finish decluttering and organizing my upstairs.  That will complete my mission of simplifying my home and making sure there’s a place for everything.

I want to only hang onto the things that bring me happiness and have meaning to me.  So…for April, I plan to tackle my spare bedroom.  I cleared this out last fall, but it needs a second go-through.  There were things I didn’t get to last time, and in the process of decluttering other areas of my home since then, I used the bed in this room as a dumping ground, so time to roll up my sleeves and really dive in to get this done!  And, honestly, I only need a Saturday afternoon to get this taken care of…it’s not like it’s a multi-day job!

Heart & Moxie | Clean Up the Website
Confession…I’ve actually already started this one :).  As I get ready to launch my coaching business, it’s time to audit my website to make sure it aligns with my soon to be business!

Therefore, I recently removed references to ‘blogging’ advice.  The posts are still there if you go through the Archives, but my passion and overall message isn’t aligned with giving blogging advice.  Making that prominent on my website was in contradiction to my coaching business, so I took those references off the front page, so to speak.

I also cleaned up my category pages.  I added directory links at the top to jump to the various sub-categories, and added new sub-categories for the Girl Power page.

With all of that done, I need to work on my Coaching page and look at my website to see where and how that will be included.  No major changes coming, I promise!  Just a spruce up that you might not even notice!

Health & Fitness | Working on Daily Moving
I love to get up early before work to spend some time writing and indulging my new favorite hobby - tarot card reading (for the sake of self-reflection and guidance...not for predicting the future).

Now that it's getting lighter in the mornings, I want to start backing up my wake time so I can add in time to get in a work out on my spin bike (while listening to podcasts).  I've already done a few mornings of this and I love it so far!  Now, it's just making sure I get to bed early enough to keep it up.

My other plans to get in more daily movement is to try to go for a walk during lunch at work and when I get home from work, turn on some music and have a solo dance party (I did this last week and it was SO MUCH FUN!).

Life  |  Birthday Reflections
I mentioned this month is my birthday month, so on my birthday (today!), I like to reflect back on my past year and look ahead to what I want to accomplish in the coming year.  This morning, I'm planning to do a visualization to check out my next year and then journal on it afterwards (I always take my birthday off work...its my freebie gift to myself!).  The trick is to add these tasks to my calendar after I spend the time reflecting on them, so that's why this is one of my goals for this month...time to make sure they happen!

Your turn, friends! What are YOUR goals for April? I’d love to hear all about them, so leave me some comments below and let me know!
